š¢ U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy just signed new guidelinesĀ that crack down on English Language Proficiency (ELP)Ā for commercial truck drivers.
Starting June 25, drivers who can't speak or understand English well enoughĀ will be placed out of serviceĀ on the spot! š
šŗšø āAmerica First means safety first,ā Duffy said in Austin, TX. This move aligns with the Presidentās April 2025 Executive Order on highway safety.
š Why it matters:
ā Road signs must be understood
ā Safe communication with DOT officers
ā Fewer roadside issues & accidents
š£ļø Common questions drivers may be asked during roadside inspections:
āWhere are you headed today?ā
āWhat are you hauling?ā
āCan you show me your logbook?ā
āDo you know what this sign means?ā
āWhatās your delivery address?ā
š®āāļø If a driver canāt answer clearly ā they may be shut down.
š¬ Industry supports it:"This is a good day for truckers and families," says OOIDA President Todd Spencer.
š Stay ready. Study FMCSA terms. Practice with your drivers.
š Enforcement begins June 25!#TruckSafe #FMCSA #TruckingNews #ELP #DOT #CDLCompliance #RoadSafety #AmericaFirst #BilingualDrivers #CMVRules #DispatcherAlert
